- Does woman get freedom in deciding her career? - August 28, 2020

Being a woman is always challenging in society. I would rather say the woman who can overcome the challenges thrown to her by society for being a woman, can be able to achieve success in any profession she chooses.
Yes! The society has improved a lot from restricting a girl child from sending to a school to allow a woman to work. But, the question to be asked here is – Even after getting educated Is she getting freedom in deciding her profession? I would say NO with some exceptions. Did anyone observe that women have minimal choices in opting for her career? The profession that she can choose has been restricted with a list of terms and conditions.
- A job that has particular timings. (Anything beyond those is not allowed)
- No male-dominant professions
- Any job which will expose a woman to the society are not allowed
- Jobs which are in surrounding to her house are highly encouraged
- And finally a government job.
Out of my interest, I read more woman entrepreneur blogs where eight among ten women wrote or said in an interview that they had been through the phase where their family members said NO to their passion, or been bullied by their relatives or neighbors for choosing their dream profession or been underestimated by the society. These phases are seen in both genders but, pointing out to the women she has been restricted more in terms of exposure.
But, the tendency of women achieving something has been probably high when someone told her this cannot be achieved by a woman. There was a proverb that I cannot stop repeating from the day I read.
“To tell a woman everything she cannot do is to tell her what she can.” -Spanish Proverb
Women have more will power than men do. The more will power is not because of the tough times they have been through. But because if she didn’t prove herself in her given chance then the probability of getting the other chance becomes less. To prove not for society but herself, she does with persistent dedication.
If support and encouragement were given to a woman to explore her dream career will not only bring recognition to her family but also the nation. All the first women warriors in the field like a first astronaut( Kalpana Chawla ), first IAS(Anna Rajam Malhotra), first IPS (Kiran Bedi), first woman boxer (Mary Kom), first weight lifter(Karnam Malleshwari), are proof for the society what remarkable pride a woman can give to her nation.
A few lines for everyone:
If you have a strong desire of doing anything, do not stop your efforts because of someone. If they say NO to you, work hard silently and achieve your dream. The day when they see you as a successful individual is the day where the world itself will shut its mouth………..
Life is precious. Live your life with your desired dream, not with the guilt of desiring.

Well said! I totally agree with each and every word you said. As there is a proverb saying ” Today’s students are tomorrow’s future” , if we let women to do what they want today, then tomorrow they are gonna make their nation pride.
Thank you! Aishwarya
